Without time – we have nothing and many of us will struggle endlessly with the limited quantity we have by thinking it can be controlled.
Consider if you will the simple hour that drags on endlessly where every five minutes feels like an eternity. Also, consider the times where a day, a week, or a year goes by so fast that you can’t clearly recall where it went no matter how hard you try. Time is subjective that way.
Feeling as if you can control time is the same as thinking you can herd cats. Not only is it cumbersome and frustrating, it isn’t effective and is a huge cause for stress. In fact, there is an actual illness that some people fall prey to called Time Urgency Impatience. If you consistently feel there are not enough hours in the day, you might want to check that article out later.
In the meantime, I’m all for scheduling, planning and feeling that being prompt is a matter of respect and having the self regulation to make sure you do what you say you will do. I also feel that living your hours is more about focus and awareness and less on what you write down in your Day Journal. It’s about choosing your priorities wisely and being diligent about keeping outside distractions at bay. That means setting boundaries and taking the time to really connect to what is most important to you in life.
If you want to learn more about how to become more effective with the hours in your day, I invite you to check out my latest Kindle book Time Effectiveness Tips that Work. It’s a quick, yet potent read that will help you form a brand new relationship to time in a way that is much calmer and effective than any of the Time Management formulas. You can download the Kindle Reader for free if you don’t have one and read on any internet capable device.
